Update - Highland Meadows Burglary

Published: July 24, 2022

This is an update from the Colleyville Police Department concerning the burglary of a residence in the 2300 block of Highland Meadows Drive this previous Thursday, October 21, 2021:

This story is about the power of our partnership with the community and how we can accomplish things together that we could never do alone. This is also a story of multiple conscientious citizens who saw something that didn’t seem right and either noted it or called police. We are truly #StrongerTogether and our residents know if you #SeeSomethingSaySomething.
After two of our residents were burglarized across town from one another, our team was prepared and expecting the bad guys to come back on Friday due to their success the day before. We were ready. Information provided by all the witnesses on Thursday gave us great leads to work on and critical details we could share with the public and surrounding agencies in case these guys came back. We received numerous calls about suspicious black SUVs and guys with florescent striped outfits. Any time we can get the public to be extra eyes and ears in the community, we are all going to be safer.
One resident who had not seen our posts noticed suspicious behavior in her neighborhood. She saw a black SUV stop and observed a male get out and discard a purple sack into the sewer. He then changed clothes into a dark jumpsuit with florescent green stripes. She thought this was just weird and took some photos while calling the police. When speaking to dispatch the additional info she provided (vehicle had a red license plate) let us know that we were likely dealing with the same suspects from yesterday.
Officers saturated the area and systematically searched the neighborhoods off of John McCain while securing both ends of John McCain in case the suspects got out of a neighborhood and attempted to leave. An attentive Officer found the vehicle and attempted to stop it. They fled from Officers and ultimately disabled their vehicle when it ran over the medians at Pool and 26. Grapevine and Southlake units assisted with the foot pursuit and all 3 subjects were taken into custody.
We conducted a search warrant of the vehicle and found 2 handguns. A loaded Glock 9MM with 2 magazines - one with a 31 round capacity and a loaded Taurus Judge which is a .45 caliber handgun capable of holding 410 shotgun rounds. This gun was loaded with 410 shells. One of the weapons was stolen out of Harris county.
Detectives retrieved the purple bag from the sewer and found that it was indeed a pillow case from one of our burglaries and it was full of jewelry. It appeared to be much of the costume jewelry from one of the burglaries, but did not contain the valuable jewelry. Around 6:45pm last night, after determining the contents of the pillow case and the vehicle, Detectives interviewed the suspects for several hours and learned that they had been staying in a hotel in Plano, where there was likely more evidence. They had been arrested before checking out of their room.
Detectives worked through the night on arrest warrants and a search warrant for the hotel room. They executed the search warrant around 2:30am this morning at the Plano hotel. Inside the room, Detectives located a lot of jewelry, a handgun that was taken from one of our burglaries, and multiple electronic devices.
We will be working with the victims to identify their property and are hopeful that most everything taken in both burglaries on Thursday was ultimately recovered.

Great job by our residents, police officers, law enforcement partners, and detectives. All worked tirelessly to take these 3 suspects off the street and recover the property for the victims. We are tired this morning, but so proud!!
